It’s that time of year again, spring weather! We’ve waited so long for these days to come! Everyone is out and about enjoying the weather, including motorcyclists. Motorcycles are fun and fuel efficient, but they are always much more dangerous than a car. In fact, motorcyclists are 30 times more likely to die in a crash than people in a car, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Almost all motorcycle deaths are the result of single-vehicle crashes. Riders 60 years and older who are both new to motorcycling or returning after a few years are 3 times more likely to be hospitalized after a crash because of slower reflexes, weaker bones, weaker eyesight, and other disadvantages. It’s important to also be prepared and avoid risks when riding. In 2010, 48% of fatalities involved speeding, and 42% of those fatalities involved alcohol.
