Your
Homeowners Policy and Motorized Carts, Toy Cars & Scooters
Electric
scooters, toy cars and other motorized items such as ATV's and Go-Carts
have become very popular over the last few years. Most Homeowners
policies do provide liability coverage for these items while on your
premises, but once they are taken past your property line, they are
considered to be off-premises. While most Homeowners policies do provide
some limited liability coverage for Golf carts off-premises, there is
generally no coverage for motorized scooters, ATV's, Go-Carts or toy
cars off of the residence premises.
There
are a couple of ways to provide the liability coverage on these items.
For ATV's, Go-Carts and Dirt Bikes, we can write a Recreational Vehicle
policy. This policy would be able to provide liability coverage and, if
desired, physical damage coverage. For the "Barbie cars" and
small electric scooters, several companies have an endorsement, or
rider, available for motorized conveyances with a 15 M.P.H. maximum
attainable speed that are not subject to motor vehicle registration
requirements.

Commercial
Umbrella
Typically,
many businesses are covered by General Liability and Auto Liability
policies up to $1,000,000. Is that enough coverage for your business? A
Commercial Umbrella, or excess, policy helps supplement the limits of
the underlying Auto and General Liability policies by adding another
tier of coverage over and above the underlying policies when that
coverage is exhausted. Umbrella policies typically start at $1,000,000
limit and increase, per million, up to $20 million or even higher.
This
extra limit of coverage can help protect a business from a catastrophic
loss, such as a serious auto accident or an injury to a client while on
your premises. Please give us a call today to discuss the details and
see how affordable an extra layer of coverage can be for your business.
We
recommend obtaining the highest limits of liability available and also
an umbrella policy over existing liability coverage.
