4th of July Safety Tips

June 29, 2016

The 4th of July is the best day of the entire year... well, according to me it is. Burgers, hot dogs, warm sunshine, and watching fireworks out on the lake, you just can’t beat it! Make sure to go over these safety tips before your Independence Day celebration:

Sun Safety: Protect your skin with SPF 50 sunscreen or higher. Sip on some water to keep hydrated, and kick back in some cool sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s damaging rays!

Water Safety: Make sure that everyone who’s near the water should be near the water! That means keeping a close eye on young children and those who don’t have the necessary skills to swim, and being certain that they are wearing proper flotation devices.

Grilling Safety: Never ignite charcoal with gasoline or lighter fluid and always use heat resistant tools! Never lean over an open flame, and avoid dangling or loose clothing while grilling.

Fireworks Safety: Always stay a safe distance from fireworks and never make your own. Also, be mindful of children and even pets during the fun display. Independence Day is the number 1 day that pets go missing.

Family Safety: Always be prepared for an emergency. No one ever thinks they will have to dial 9-1-1, so be prepared, stay safe, and have a wonderful 4th of July!
