7 Steps to Living Healthier this Summer

Summer is the time of year that everyone loves…ah sweet summertime. One of the best things about summer is that it’s a great time to start living healthier again! Follow these 7 steps for your healthiest summer yet!

1.Add some berries to your diet. Summer is a great opportunity to improve your diet because of all of the delicious and nutritious foods that are available this time of year. Adding a cup of berries to your diet will load you up on antioxidants and fiber!

2.Get dirty. Did you know that by just putting your hands in soil relieves both physical and mental stress? Show off your green thumb by planting a garden of just a few flower pots. You’ll be amazed by how much better you’ll feel.

3.Get flossing. This is something we all know we need to do! Flossing reduces oral bacteria, which improves overall body health. Floss every day, anytime, just as long as you get it in.

4.Exercise outdoors. We’ve waited for warm weather for what seems like forever, take advantage of it! Exercising outdoors is a great way to get rid of that “cooped-up inside” feeling and also a great way to bond with your family.

5.Protect your eyes. Wear sunglasses while driving and anytime you’re outside. Doing so prevents cataracts and wrinkles around the eyes, not to mention, you’ll be looking extra stylish. Be sure to pick sunglasses that block at least 99% of ultraviolet A and B rays.

6.Go with lite alcohol. Skip the hard alcohol this summer and choose light, chilled alcoholic beverages such as sangria, beer, or wine spritzers. In moderation, alcohol can protect against heart disease.

7.Know your sleep schedule. As the days get longer, we tend to stay up later. Try to keep the same sleep schedule all year long.
