Below is another recent example where our Certified Work Comp Advisors helped save money.

Contractor #2:

Residential Roofing Contractor

The problem:

When our Certified Work Comp Advisor assessed the work comp policy, prior claims and experience mod rate, an error was found on the claims history. A claim for an injured employee was recorded at $75,000 but had closed at $25,000! This error resulted in an overstatement of the mod by 28 points!

The Work Comp Solution:

Our Certified Work Comp Specialist assisted the client in contacting the insurance carrier, clarifying the error and correcting the mod which will result in a premium refund of $12,000!

Reviewing the claims on your mod worksheet for errors is just one of the areas to consider when it comes to claims. How often do your review your open claims and review the reserves? Large lags in care can indicate an open claim is spiraling out of control. We recommend and can assist in reviewing your open claims and reserves. At a minimum this should be done on a quarterly basis.

As an independent insurance agency we work for you. We help businesses implement some simple strategies that will allow you to control your experience mod. We have been proudly serving Ames area businesses since 1926. Please give us a call today to discuss your work comp program.
